My one trip to Alaska was amazing, wonderful, and much more. I wish I could go back - and your description of your time there was so special. SO much to see, to learn, to enjoy - and I will always remember the moose meat tacos! Thank you for this read! Blessings...:)
Did you get to travel around? I could imagine spending a month or two there and still not seeing close to half of what it has to offer. It's an amazing place. Might even be nice when it's warm!
I was teaching workshops in Anchorage, Kenai/Soldatna, and Fairbanks, so it was mostly watching for so much. I would love to go back - I envy friends who live there...and a month or two would be a start...:)
Alaska is a gorgeous state! You had a great adventure! Next time use the Alaska Railroad to travel from Fairbanks to Anchorage to Seward and back. They have so many great plans you can follow. We love Cordova in the Prince William Sound. It's remote but such a vibrant and interesting town. Orca Lodge there is perfect for a salmon fishing expedition. I hope you don't wait to go back. I love it there.
Absolutely gorgeous is right! I wanted to take the train but it doesn't run January to mid February. I would like to return next fall (early fall), past the peak tourist season but warmer than when I was there..
Hey MKS! You know, I don't think I ever went more than a few times to Oregon or Washington state, but never Alaska. In a way, I'm glad I "discovered" now, at this stage in my life. I think I appreciate it more now. I'm going back!
The hotel smoke detector guy, what a way to finish a long day huh? Alaska attracts a lot of interesting folks. Sounds like you found a few of them. My friend Phil, who I started a business with, is another fella who is fascinated with the JFK assassination. He arranged at his own expense, a meeting of the men still living who carried his casket (this was many years ago) during the national memorial. I'll just leave it at that. Great read, thanks for the share...
Love this Ron. I have a coffee mug from the Snow City Cafe! Apropos no??
Very. I love it! When were you there?

Great story and evocative writing! Thanks for letting us come along without endangering fingers and toes!
Thank you! Have you been to Alaska? I'm determined to return this year.
How did you never go to Alaska? You were based in LA for all those years. Great story. You brought it to life beautifully.

I want to hear the rest of that story someday, Cheetah
Thanks for the trip!
I felt gradually more icy cold while reading the story. I wouldn’t have left the car. Love all the details.
I got a feeling you would've explored despite the chill, Bon. Have you ever been to Alaska? I'm in awe. Obviously.
