I visited Laurel Canyon, Malibu, Beverly Hills Etc. I was there in September 2024. I drove north on the PCH from Santa Monica to just north of Malibu. It’s just a beautiful place. It was my wife and I first time visiting the Los Angeles area. We live in SW Michigan 20 miles north of South Bend ,Indiana and Notre Dame.(Dowagiac) area. Recently we have been watching the news broadcast of the fires in the LA area it’s just heartbreaking. I worked in emergency services for 37 years firefighter/Emt. I have fought a few brush fires although nothing over 1,000 acres. The magnitude of this disaster is just devastating. It can and I know the communities will eventually rebuild. Although it will take some time. The first priority should be preventing loss of life.
Love the pics, too!
This seems even more timely since places like New Orleans have just gotten battered!

You're so right. Loss of life is the first priority.
I love this piece of reporting so much Ron. Will share widely.
Thank you. It was fun to research & write, and especially see the trove of old photos.
very interesting!!!
I was fascinated. I grew up in LA and never knew it had snowed there, much less used to not so infrequently
